All of these round tubular slings feature an outer sheath which protects the load bearing material on the inside. This provides increased protection in order to prevent any premature failure. There are also different protective padding materials available to provide even further protection. It is also recommended to put shims or some type of padding material at contact points when lifting material that is particularly coarse or sharp.
The working load limits given above are for a single vertical (90 degree) hitch and when used in a basket style hitch with two legs you can essentially double the working load limit. Also, when using a choker style hitch the working load limit is less than that which is provided by a vertical hitch. It is also worth noting that with a basket style hitch you must keep both legs in a completely vertical position. If the legs are at angles other than 90 degrees you must calculate the resulting reduction in working load limits.
